What is the inspiration behind the business? Or what is your personal inspiration?
In 2006 my wife’s Grandmother was getting uncomfortable living in her own home. Walking up and down the stairs to do laundry, cooking her own meals with arthritis, etc became difficult for her. I investigated services to help keep her at home, and found Home Instead. I was so impressed I opened our office in Milford that year.
What are the three most important things about your business?
- Caregivers (People)
- Clients (People)
- Office Staff (People)
What is the favorite part of your job?
Interacting with our CAREGiving staff – who are in the field each day making sure our senior clients remain independent in their homes.
If you could explain your business in the simplest way, how would you?
Our staff assists seniors in remaining in their homes.
How did you pivot in 2020?
When things shut down in March we needed to adjust everything about how we operate. We needed to make sure our CAREGiving staff was trained for standard precautionary measures and how to operate and keep their clients safe. In our offices we shut down but had daily meetings via Microsoft TEAMS. Because facilities were forced to keep visitors away, our services got very popular so people could continue to see their loved ones at home.
What is your key to success?
We understand if a family or client engages Home Instead to care for someone they love they are putting a lot of trust in us. We take that very, very seriously. Our motto is. “To Us, It’s Personal.”
Do you or does your business done to any charities? Which ones? Why?
Each year we participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It affects many of our clients and we see first -hand how devastating of a disease it is. We are also an annual sponsor of the DSAGC Buddy Walk. It is an extraordinary event and the DSAGC does phenomenal work. We are proud to be associated.

Do you have any special services you offer Montgomery Chamber of Commerce members?
We understand that not everyone needs our services, but can use our knowledge of senior care issues. We will periodically be offering free seminars to the local community. We are always also willing to chat with anyone regarding areas we have experience with. Many times people just need someone to offer a few minutes on the phone to know what is available to them in terms of senior care.
