Get to know More About General Electric Credit Union:

Does General Electric Credit Union donate to any charities? Which ones? Why?

Giving back to the communities we serve is part of who we are as an organization and we hold true to the Credit Union philosophy of “People Helping People.” We enjoy helping local schools, charities, and organizations through scholarships, sponsorships, donations, and volunteer opportunities.

  • We have an annual scholarship called the Cunningham Memorial Scholarship which has awarded over $200,000 to local high school seniors since its inception in 1998.
  • Every year, GECU comes together to raise money and awareness for several organizations close to our heart, including but not limited to: Honor Flight, United Way, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
  • We have a community outreach program, GECU Cares, for team members to organize volunteer initiatives across the organization. Since it’s launch in 2019, more than 260 team members have participated to support over 125 local organizations. Additionally, we encourage and support involvement with this program for team members.
  • To deepen our commitment to the community, we created our Giveback Partners program to invest in three local nonprofit organizations that mirror our philosophy of People Helping People through financial contributions, volunteer manpower, and other opportunities. Our Giveback Partners this year are May We Help, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati, Matthew 25: Ministries.

What are the three most important things about your business?

  • We’re locally based and understand the community – where they work and live – which allows us to establish a deeper bond. We put our mission of Improving the Quality of Financial Lives at the forefront of everything we do for our members and our team members.
  • Our members are our owners and make up our Board of Directors. This means instead of shareholders making decisions for our members, our members are making the key decisions for the organization.
  • We’re committed to providing members a faster, smarter, more convenient way to bank. As we expand into new communities including Montgomery, we continue to increase our teams and resources to provide our members with the products and services to help them thrive. We make it easy to work with us and are dedicated to continually improve on this through our growing locations and advanced technology.

If you could explain your business in the simplest way, how would you?

We’re more than a place to bank. We build relationship with our members to become their partner. We seek to understand the needs of our members to connect them with the right products, services, and resources to improve the quality of their lives. We want to be their life.

Name one short term goal.

We’re excited to join the Montgomery community. We want to be a valued community member and a trusted source to the residents and businesses in Montgomery!

Describe your business in three words.

Member-first, dedicated, and compassionate.
